Most of us went to school as children, and knew the path so well that we could almost follow it with our eyes closed! But few of us could have imagined walking the extremely long, arduous, and dangerous paths that the children in these documentaries take.
This great documentary series can help us and our children truly appreciate the value of an education. These kids take great risks just for the chance of an education. Because they know what a great gift and opportunity it is!
Great risk for an education
We found ourselves admiring their pluck and courage as they climbed formidable mountain peaks, crossed icy landscapes or scorching deserts, or as they rowed for hours along perilous lakes and rivers. Some without shoes or with little food and water, and sometimes quite young.
What about you? As a parent, do you encourage your children appreciate their opportunity to learn? Or do they grumble and complain about school, like so many kids in the modern world?

Appreciate education
These great movies really bring home the immense value of an education by showing the price these children are paying to get one. And all for the chance at the better life it can bring.
They are truly eye-opening for the whole family, and help us realize how many blessings and privileges we often take for granted.
The 10 films provide a fascinating glimpse into what life is like in different places around the globe. Siberia, Himalaya, Kenya, Lake Titicaca (between Peru and Bolivia), Nepal, Ethiopia, Nicaragua, Papua New Guinea, Mongolia, Mexico, Bolivia, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

The one I liked best was about some school children in Siberia. As hard as it was, there life seemed almost idyllic. On the other hand, seeing what some Kenyan kids had to go through was literally heartbreaking. And the children who captured my heart the most were 3 adorable little girls in Mexico.
